
The Ocean Tech Hub brings together leaders from industry, academia, government, workforce development, and economic development to create a connected ecosystem for ocean technology innovation. Through collaboration and shared resources, consortium members help companies access the facilities, expertise, talent, and opportunities needed to develop, test, and commercialize next-generation ocean technologies.
Southeastern New England has seven commercial ports, world-class manufacturing and research facilities, and an ocean workforce of over 54,000 people. It’s home to hundreds of companies in the marine science, robotics, and composites, as well as a broader ocean technology supply chain of nearly 8,300 companies. The region's global leaders with expertise in undersea technology and rich oceanographic research include the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography, and the Marine & Undersea Technology Research Program at UMass Dartmouth.
Ocean Tech Hub includes leading universities, research institutions, workforce and business support organizations, state and local government agencies, and innovative companies from Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
