The Ocean Tech Hub is leading the advancement, development and commercialization of ocean technology through a regional hub-and-spoke model. By leveraging assets from academia, industry, government, labor and community organizations we are creating a platform for cross-sector collaboration that drives innovation.
Southeastern New England has seven commercial ports, world-class manufacturing and research facilities, and an ocean workforce of over 54,000 people. It’s home to hundreds of companies in the marine science, robotics, and composites, as well as a broader ocean technology supply chain of nearly 8,300 companies. The region's global leaders with expertise in undersea technology and rich oceanographic research include the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography, and the Marine & Undersea Technology Research Program at UMass Dartmouth.
